Back to reality!
We’re back from vacation! Yesterday we spent the day catching up with things around the house (so much mail to sort through, bills to pay/organize, laundry to do, things to unpack). It was very smart of us to schedule the flight back on Saturday to give ourselves a day to prep for the start of a week.
I’ll post today/tomorrow about our adventures. It was so great! Training wasn’t as ideal as it could have been. We continually increased in altitude – so I was constantly acclimating and worried about doing too much/going too hard/etc. It wasn’t terrible, though, we put in a lot of volume and I feel like I did exactly the right amount so as not to come back fried (I’ve done that too many times in the past). No time for fatigued weeks (or multiple weeks) in this training cycle!!!
The only surprise was coming back to an “easy” day of 16 miles today – with a dew point in the mid 70s and temps in the mid 80s, my legs were struggling after about mile 3. My stomach struggled as well. It was pretty miserable. Yeah, middle of summer in MN! I’ll have to be smart about the timing of my runs for the next couple of months – running really early or really late.
Have a great week, everyone! Run happy!!
